as promised, Amazon delivered the Wheeler Reticle Leveling System today .... first impressions are very favorable .... appears to be solidly made .... install instructions and illustrations are clear .... I plan to put it to work as soon as I can come up with a way to keep the rifles still while working on them

The company is called MTM Case-Gard. They also make ammo boxes. I'd include the link if I knew how to do it...

earlier today I used the Wheeler system to adjust two rifle scopes .... I have to admit that I'm impressed .... with the first one I followed the steps given in the directions, the process went smoothly .... with the second, because of the logical sequence they recommend, I didn't need to refer to the directions .... my plan is to adjust several more tomorrow

update :

yesterday and again today I spent several hours remounting scopes on three different rifles .... with each of the first two, I was able to get the cross hairs aligned so that the vertical cross hair was straight up .... unfortunately, when I shouldered the rifle and looked through the scope, the top of that cross hair appeared to me to be a bit off to the left .... as I was setting up the third rifle (a 1970 Browning BLR 308) I decided to deliberately rotate the scope a bit to the right .... to my delight, when I shouldered the rifle and looked through the scope, the cross hairs appeared to be perfectly aligned .... in short, my natural hold doesn't position the sides of the rifle straight up .... my current plan is to readjust the first two (our Henry CCH 45-70 and BBS 44 mag) .... now I have yet another motivation to get back out on a range

JEBar,

An interesting post on the Yellow Forum (Airgun) I came across'

http://www.network54.com/Forum/79537/th ... and+Thread

Basically it calls into concern the use of scope caps as a reference of level. I don't know, I never had a problem but the yellow forum group is about as "anal retentive as you can get", so I thought I would pass it along.

I shoot a lot of long range guns and the wheeler isn't that cheaply made. I don't even think of letting a gun store mount any of mine. The wheeler set up is great and so is their fat Torque wrench.

I've got the Wheeler Fat Wrench, the Wheeler Professional Leveling System and the Tipton Ultra Gun Vise......I would highly recommend all 3 products.
