Folding tang sight
Folding tang sight
Has anyone ever fitted a tang sight onto one of their Big Boys? If so, how did it perform? What brand, keep or change the original front sight? Cheers.

Re: Folding tang sight
This could be an interesting thread. I have ordered a tang sight on a Uberti High Wall, and am curious how it will be with the factory front sight as well. I ordered the Lyman one below:

Will be interesting to see what comes up. You might have to custom fit one. Possibly a longer tang screw and a second hole drilled and tapped.

Ojai, that is interesting still have to drill and tap some holes but at least you don't have to custom make screws.

Re: Folding tang sight
I have one on my Miruku '92 Short Rifle in 357.
I got it with a replacement tang screw and a short screw that is supposed to be smithed. Don't know any gunsmiths though.
The tang peep also necessitates a drastic thumb position change.
There are also varying post heights for longer or shorter ranges..
Approximate 1/4 inch sight change at 50yrd per turn I believe.

One thing to think about, are you going to hold your face above the stock when the tang site is raised for long distance shots

Re: Folding tang sight
Would skinner sights be any good for pistol class CLAS? I’m just looking at getting into it, and that’s why I was thinking tang peeps would be the go, so you’ve got the adjustments. But, skinners? No adjustment, so would a 357 mag shoot flat enough to knock a few targets over?

RR: I wish I had seen this sooner...I suggest that you contact Taylors and cancel/modify your order, BECAUSE: the Lyman has NO lateral adjustment, only up/down...whereas the Marbles is both lateral and vertical..Shrps74
