Another sight insert I will try....

Post by fortyshooter » Sat Feb 22, 2020 10:49 am

Made up a .150 diameter ghost ring sight insert to try in the factory rear sight on my .357 Big Boy.
Front sight picture is much better as seen from eye rather than this picture.
Look for a Range report this evening or tomorrow!

Looks good. I miss the old shop days where I could make my own stuff. Don't have room for machinery now.

I rarely ever buy a rifle, but when I do, it's a Henry.

Loosen that little screw on right-side and slide it out from top.

forty, did you find the screws you were looking for? I didn't have the size you needed.
Looks like that insert ought to work fine.

Won't need them for the sight now but did order some from Brownells for another project.

Thanks for the offer though!

Well I can get two out of 1 hacksaw blade...I just use the ends with the hole! You want a tough steel so the lock screw doesn't
dig into it and the blade is the right thickness. If you have a grinder you then just shape it to size after you cut off the piece.
Maybe I will make up a few.
