Fiber sight on Long Ranger?

Post by ranmcc » Wed Nov 13, 2019 8:54 am

Has anyone put fiber sights on Long Ranger? What brand? Comments. Is the sight dovetails 3/8inch? I see where Tru glo has 3/8. LR has fold down rear sight.

It took me a second to realize you meant fiber OPTIC sights - I stumbled for a bit on your title.
I have never owned any but have shot a few guns with them and have considered trying one on a Winchester.
Typically they will all be 3/8" dovetail which is standard.
Tru Glo is certainly a well known name but check out Williams and others as well.
If you have an opportunity try to 'sight' down a rifle with a fiber optic sight to make sure you like the sight picture as well as the color.
Some will go with just a front fiber optic as opposed to both front and rear.
Also make sure if you choose one you get some spare fiber optic rods as I read about them falling out occasionally.
Bottom line is in natural light they really stand out and can be seen well.
