I recently bought a Skinner peepsight for my Steel big Boy and the taller front sight as well.
My question is do you set the peep at its lowest setting then file down the front sight for the shortest range you will shoot at, say 25 yards?
Spring has sprung. Get out and shoot your Henry
Peepsight question
Re: Peepsight question
Sorry that I don't know the answer to your question. Suggestion: Go to the "Skinner Sights" via the link in our banner page. Then scroll down the column of links Skinner has on the left side of the page, and click on the "Technical Info." I've seen info/instructs there on how to work with front sights. Possibly there is available some help for you. If not, you might contact Skinner with your question(s).
Good luck on your sight adjusts!

Re: Peepsight question
Adjust the peep for the distances you will consider its norm. I would suggest 60 to 100 yards. Remember the bullet doesn't go in a straight line and for you to hit dead-on at 100 yards it needs to be shooting high at closer distances and will shoot low at distances further than 100 yards. You also have the distance the sight is above the barrel to consider.

I plan to sight it in at 50 yards so would I adjust the rear peep to a midway point then shoot and file?

Yes. But don't be quick to file unless its off a bunch. Shoot it a few times on different occasions and fine tune each time. Remember its easy to take off but hard to put back on.Hogstir wrote:I plan to sight it in at 50 yards so would I adjust the rear peep to a midway point then shoot and file?
