Barrel mount peep
Barrel mount peep
Been thinking about some sort of barrel mount peep sight to try (specifically for my 1899 Winchester) and while laying in the hospital bed I have thought about simply turning an aperature
To fit on of the many buckhorn sights I have.
I might have to chuck up a piece of round stock on my lathe and see what I can come up with and fabricate some sort of adjustable mount for it on the rear.
Probably just start with something simple to see how well this will work out.

Hope you're doing, well.
As for the peep on the barrel, shouldn't be too hard to come up with something on your own. Otherwise, there are plenty of ready made options you can buy.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Nope - I am a pretty fair hand with steel, files, lathe & related tools and have made many gun parts and accessories over the years. As for the peep on the barrel, shouldn't be too hard to come up with something on your own.
Most of the time what I want is not available so I wind up making it on my own.

Peeps on a barrel don't work ............. Tang is the best ......... peep needs to be super near the eye to work correctly .

having such a project to occupy your thoughts can most certainly help in such times .... that requires a level of skill that I'll never have but sure do respect .... as you work your way through it, please keep us up to date

Yea I had already begun to lay out little parts & such.
I scrounged up an old no name rear sight and I going to replace the rear slider blade with a solid one I will fab and then turn an aperture, then drill and tap the blade to screw my 'custom' aperture in.

Uh, actually they do.Peeps on a barrel don't work
The barrel mounted peep on my new Ruger PCC works very well - so much in fact It precipitated my decision to fab something for my 1899 Winchester.
