Scope input needed

Post by Seif » Sun Apr 19, 2020 3:03 pm

I just got a Henry H001TSPR with the 24" threaded octagonal barrel. Most if not all the shooting will be done with a suppressor on and subsonic ammo. I know I don't "need" a higher magnification scope so I am looking for input on which rout I should consider.

I can do a lower variable magnification like a 2-7 or a 1-6 or maybe just do a fixed 4 power since most of the shooting will be less than 75 yards or so.

Thanks for your input.

I use Burris scopes:

They used to have a 2.5-7 X35 in the Fullfield series. I didn't see it listed on this site.

Found this on HenryUSA. Might narrow the field for you.
The 22 is becoming famous. I ran a good ammo test today from the bench at 25 yards. It will be part of a feature article at Outdoors Unlimited Magazine. 9 different dime sized dots were used, with 5 shot groups recorded. The scope was a Bushnell Banner 3×9 commonly used by many squirrel hunters.

The Bushnell Banner 6×18 has won more World Squirrel Rifle Championships on a CZ-452 than any other. Today using different ammo two Black Death Targets were achieved. I was only using the dots as an aiming point as the rifle was zeroed with Wolf Match Extra and no other sight adjustment was made. The scope was set on 4 power.

That said, I have a Simmons 3-9x40 on my Winchester 9422M, which is ok. Turrets are a bit mushy, instead of the sharp click I like, but it does hold zero and the glass is about avg for a inexpensive scope carried by Walmart.

Did a bit of searching for you. I have one of these on my Marlin Camp 9 and it's on clearance. It works well. I caught mine on sale at the Sig Sauer site for about the same price. Mine has a silver matte tube but I don't mind.

Sounds as if you may have answered your own question.
I have a Nikon rimfire on my 22 mag. 3x9x40.
Dead on the marks 25, 50, 75, & 100 yds.
Another cheaper 3x9 on one 22, and a 4x on another.

Kinda like the CF's some the same and the others are other varieties.

I use a Weaver 1-3 x 20 on my 357. Works good for me considering the effective range of 357 cal.

OH, maybe you meant MHO on effective range. To my knowledge, that 357 is gonna drop quickly after about 75 to 100 yards.🤔
We all know about opinions though.
