Scout scope

Hi All. New here.
I do not yet own a Henry but have been looking real hard at the BBCCH carbine in 44 mag. With the octagonal barrel it seems that a scout style scope would be an easy set up. Eye relief and LOP have always been an issue for me. I know I can cut the wood but that doesn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling.
Any thoughts out there on this idea?
Thank you.

No experience with the Henry, but plenty of experience with scout scope setups. I like going scout on appropriate rifles like lever guns or some large bore single shot carbines that will be used at closer ranges. Give it a try.

The big boys are all drilled and tapped to mount a Henry rail so no drilling or cutting needed to mount a scope.

An intermediate eye relief scout scope would mount to the barrel, not the receiver. ... https://www.ar15.com/forums/armory/henr ... 47-452207/

BTW the compact Leupold 3-7x33 is a great choice for a short range lever gun. Here is a VX1 version on a Marlin.

The mounting holes on the Henry receivers are for mounting of standard eye relief scopes. The only real way to mount a scout scope on the Henry is going to be with using the front receiver holes, and something mounted in the dovetail. Unless one wants to start messing with wood removal and screw hole tapping into the barrel.

I have an idea, and am going to be talking to Andy over at Skinnersights.com to see if he would be interested in making this type of mount.

Just to bring an update into this discussion, both Rob and Andy over at Skinner Sights have contacted me ack about scout rail mountings for Henry leverguns. Ideas and such are what they are working on and trying to bring to reality. I will keep you posted as much a s I can.

Has anyone sent their Henry to Jim Brockman at brockmansrifles.com ? He says he's doing Henry work now. I've been very pleased with his past work on my Marlins and Winchesters. Im thinking about having scout scope bases for Talley QD rings installed on my BBS 327 carbine. Im wondering if anybody else has done this??? The next questions would be: "Which EER scope works best"

Thanks

The idea is always intriguing. A forward mounted scope is out of the way of any action. I have not looked through a forward mounted scope yet. It is an interesting idea. Good luck.

It's definitely possible on a Henry. A friend built this mount for me.
