Leupold Freedom 1.5-4x? Looks like mine, anyway. Actually have a couple of them on various guns. Great scope for the money.

1.5x6 vx3. Nice optic for the money. I've got one on a Marlin 450. It handles recoil ok.

That's a scope I really like, too. I think the small objective lens scope just fits better on light, compact rifles of the lever and single shot type, and some bolt action carbines as well. I like the fixed power versions, FX 2.5, M8 3X (custom shop?), too, but they've become scarce. So the low power variables it is :) .

I've tried the skinner on a Rossi I had in 357. I had it so far to the left to be on target it looked really stupid. Only sighted rifles I have are the 45 and 22 in the Big boy classic and the golden boy. Length of pull lets me see rear and front sight. The 44 was short enough that the rear sight had blur in it. I can see miles away no problem but I need a letter clipped to a shovel handle to get it out far enough to read. I'm going to put a small red dot on my 45 and stay in the 60-70 yard range. The 22 not drilled or tapped but I can see cans and spinners and steel ok out far enough. Precision on paper for reloading I have to have glass. I woke up on the top of dirt this morning so I'm blessed anyway.

That VX3i is even better. Have one of those, too.

Mags,
More New Guy Scope Questions about your Vortex:
What mount/ring set-up did you go with?
Any problems zeroing it in with your 30-30?
What distances have you been successful at?
Can you leave your buckhorn and front sight in place?
Anything else I should know?
Thanks in advance!

Some of this was covered in my range reports. Putting it all together here:

Scope
https://www.amazon.com/Vortex-Optics-St ... riflescope
Rings 30mm, 0.97 inch height (ring base to scope center).
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01IG ... UTF8&psc=1
Base (scope rail)
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01D2 ... UTF8&psc=1
Bore Sight
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001C ... UTF8&psc=1
Blue Loctite
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000I ... UTF8&psc=1

I got an approximate zero at 50 yds using the laser bore sight.
Followed up with about 9 rounds and I had my zero. See my range report for those details.

I shoot 25-100yds and have my scope hold over/under from 50 yds zero memorized.
Yes I have left my buckhorn sights in place and the base rail has a channel down the middle of it so that I use the buckhorn sights without removing the rail.

The only regret I have is not buying the 1-8x24 model, which I believe would have been better for me approaching targets out to 100 yds. Then again I'm a little shaky, so the 8x might not have helped.

Hope you found this enlightening and helpful.
