Effective July 1st 2019 non lead ammo will be required when taking any wildlife with a firearm anywhere in California.

Well, at least you can have more than 7 shots again

So does anyone make “non-lead” ammo for hunting rifles? Maybe some nice surplus depleted uranium rounds?

Hunting with a 22lr is going to be hard. 17HMR is easy to find as is 17wsm, 22mag is out there also. Monolithic bullets for Center fire has been around for sometime and has ramped up in the last couple years. I think there are now green bullets and loaded ammo in every center fire I have.

That’s interesting to know. All my waterfowl hunting is lead free. What are they using for the bullets, how does it affect stopping power, and how do your barrels like the green ones?

Mags put up a couple of links with info. Barnes, Nosler, Hornady and a few others make non-lead bullets. Also loaded ammo is available with such. Sucks for .22LR tho, as there really isn't any decent/accurate .22 ammo out there yet. Oh well.
