Yea I was thinking the same I.e. Why a bat and it's not October- maybe an eagle or other bird of prey would be more 'year round'

Since bats are mammals, maybe Fred is a very unique and rare bat with lots of extra heavy fur for all weather conditions? I was wondering the same thing, why wasn't Fred here in October? I like Fred too.
