We have a historic train station here. Inside, are at least three different working, large set-ups which mirror the town/region. Have been there, and it's very cool! The detail and work that go into it are phenomenal. If I ever go back and take some pics, I will post!
Didn't notice any graffiti though.

I have a fondness for The Great Northern Railroad. My granddad was a locomotive engineer for them in the early part of the 20th century. He was based out of Whitefish Montana. He ran on the mountainous legs between Spokane WA and somewhere on the Eastern slope of the Rockies. I have some of his maintenance text books, pictures and time card history somewhere in storage. Having his time card history is rare as Burlington Northern destroyed the employment records when they acquired The Great Northern Railroad.

We have seen many rail cars with the same person's art on it over the last few years. Must live near a rail yard or something to be able to do that. We actually recognize the signature when we see it now. Weird when you think how these cars must get around.

Yes they definitely do!! Lived in the Chicago area during my HS years and worked for the Chicago Northwestern RR for a short time.

I don't mean to be a 'noodge' but what you are calling 'art' is actually referred to as 'tagging' - and is typically used as a messaging system for gang members.

Hard to say what the creepy 'couple' denote but it's probably not anything peaceful and loving. Notice the 'gang' symbols below the 'C' ?

Also it is illegal as it is 'technically' vandalism.

Although I have looked at it as graffiti and actually vandalism too, I have always admired the art in it, even though I wish it was on a different canvas. I never knew anything about the gang messaging in it. That is pretty informative.

All that said, I'm a rail fan myself. I also live somewhat closed to the tracks and on some nights, it sounds like the train is coming down alongside my own road, lol. I particularly like Steam Trains. We have some in Roanoke, VA and a couple of rare times, I also heard the one in operation roll through nearby.
