This morning...rode down along tracks as a shortcut to the cows. However, someone had thrown an old fence in the bush and tall grass....Badger put a back foot in it. Not barbwire thankfully. He just stopped and waited for me to get his back foot out of it. Wish people would not chuck their crap all over the place.

He's hung up in wire before so he knows to just stand still and not panic. Another reason to hobble break your horses....something around my leg?...stand still.

Unfortunately he learned the hard way, with the scars to prove it. Like most of us. Good judgement comes from having poor judgement.

Man, four sets of Badger's ears. Me thinks maybe a record for one post :?:  :?:
They are beautiful and always alert. The country they are looking over is also beautiful and peaceful.

Appreciate not seeing photos of all the dumped junk in Cow Country, RR...that's sure not pretty stuff anywhere.
Sorry you have it, too.

It seems that the railway corridor is a dumping ground for what looks like mostly railway stuff. Old buckets, ties, piles of rail, spikes, wire, etc. I guess it's for repairs and such or else they are just really messy...but have to be REAL careful near the tracks. I usually am, and have ridden through that spot before without incident, but today was a different day....

This response belongs on the other thread, however, makes me think of the series; ' Hell on Wheels ' which I liked a lot.
Careful around all that debris RR.

Thanks, we don't go near the tracks much, and next time will just take the long way around. Pays the same.

“ Another reason to hobble break your horses..”
Ha I wouldn’t know what end of a horse is what let alone what hobbling is.
Great thread though.

When a clown moves into a palace, he doesn't become a king. The palace becomes a circus.

Basically ankle cuffs for the front legs. Mine is a 1 piece leather strap that loops through itself around one leg and then buckles around the other. He can move a little while grazing but mostly stays put. Then I can pull his bridle off, unsaddle, and have a nap in the grass...
