Just saw that traffic is no longer the main concern in Seattle, cost of living is now #1 with the median cost of a single family home in King County now at $725,000. In Seattle it's $819,000

That doesnt surprise me at all. Dave are you in the Pasco Area?
I'm in Wenatchee, quite a bit further north than Pasco. Been here all my 65 years, it's grown a lot since I was kid. Lots of Seattle area retirees move here, they can sell their $1,000,000 homes and replace them with something comparable here and put more the half the million in the bank.

Badger's ears are becoming quite familiar in the far north Cow Country! :)
And evidently Badger also loves to look at those beautiful mountains, just like the rest of us do.

Just spent most of the morning going through this thread from start to finish.
Thankyou for sharing, some fantastic photos and country, it is always interesting to see how others do things.

Ive spent a fair bit of my life looking at the back end of livestock. Worked on a few places here in Aus, from semi desert sheep country that is lucky to run a sheep to 25acres to 50" rainfall where in a good season you can almost run a cow to the acre.

I regret now not taking pictures but 30 years ago film cost money and if your working with livestock money isn't exactly plentiful.
Not a lot done here on horse unless it is country that is to rough for ATV's and bikes. The bigger places I worked on that were running up to 3000 breeding cows were set up so you were always within about 3 miles of a set of yards so no need to walk them long distances or rope.
With a wife and kids to take care of my livestock work is limited to looking after 50 cows and few sheep on a few hundred acres now days.
We don't even own a horse but hasn't stopped my son taking up bull and bronc ridding.

Thanks for taking the time to go through the thread. Glad you enjoyed it. We have a pretty healthy cowboy culture here still. There's cowboys out there, you just can't see them from the road. :)

Don't get me wrong there is still a healthy culture here as well but the everyday tools of the trade are not what they once were.
The ever decreasing margins mean if it is more economical to muster with a bike, ATV or chopper then that is what will be used a lot of the time.
Spring and summer grazing in the alpine areas is pretty much over here due to environmental issues so we don't have cattle being walked into and out of the high country anymore.

I have some big cattle moves coming up in the next few weeks. Trailing a few hundred head for a day is my idea of a good time.
