Turkey time is coming!
Re: Turkey time is coming!
Sounds like our Sand Hill Cranes, ubiquitous and almost domestic
Turkeys down here use the jungle, and all it's obsticals and challenges to their advantage. They can be taken, but you have to be lucky or good.

Our brush is really thick too and it’s hard to get close. I usually bring both a shotgun and a .22 so if I can’t get them close enough, I have the option of sniper mode. It’s not as sporting, but the fellow who owns the land I hunt on really wants me to take a bird as he is over run!

Here's a pic from this past Fall during our muzzle loader season.
If you look in the back you can see a couple deer also.
There were about two dozen turkeys just out of sight off to the right. RP

The one I saw a couple of weeks ago had a bright red beard. You could see it 300 yds away, though I was only 100ft.RanchRoper wrote:We've had the whole family visiting all winter....
RR (or anybody) is that a seasonal thing like antlers?
Cause those are the only turkeys I think we can shoot.
