Best of luck, Jim! Sounds like a great set-up and that you have the bases covered. Can't wait to hear about it and see some pics.

I've hunted with a red dot sight on our Redhawk 44 Mag for a long, long time .... I've never used one on a rifle and wouldn't be comfortable doing so at ranges over 50 or so yards .... as to getting tooooo old for dragging deer out of the woods, I reached that point many years back
Yeah, Jim. My last deer was taken at 49 yds with my Henry and Skinner peep. I'm sure the red dot would do fine, but am going along with my son. If he thinks he can make my time better, I'm easy. I'll use my red dot on my time. Dang kids...

Roger that on loooong drags with the deer. Why I called it quits in 2012. Upland birds are WAY lighter and easier to carry.
Good luck tho. Now, go get 'em!

I'm all for our kids making my time better .. :!: :!: .. as mentioned, I've taken deer at 40+ yards with our Redhawk and given a similar shot today I'd still take it .... in thinking about it, I guess I'm comfortable with taking any shot with a red dot that I'd take with open sights

" but I like the scope I'm using..." then my son in exasperation buys the scope. I use the scope when he is around so as not to hurt his feelings, but go back to using my favorite when he's not.

...My son insists on a 'good ' scope. Probably a 3x9. I go along to get along. He hated my 1.5-4x32. Lol

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......
