My son, bless him, has set us up on private land next to the Loup River. His term, 'easy pickings'. I got a doe permit, with a bonus doe.

Hoping to come away with a couple. One for each of us to put in the freezer.

I will be shooting my BBSC 357 with a Sig Romeo red dot. And, as always, a Skinner peep underneath for backup. He will carry a Remington 700 chambered in 243. He gets the long shot, I get the close in.

We make a good team. Tho I expect to do most of the butchering.

Wish us luck. And all of you be safe out there.

Will post results. Hoping for a group pic, my boy, me, and two deer.

Update. My son insists on a 'good ' scope. Probably a 3x9. I go along to get along. He hated my 1.5-4x32. Lol

Did you have that scope on the 243 CoFisher? I bought one of those Sig Romeo's to try out I like it would buy another one. Good luck on the hunt hope you get a couple.

Good luck to you and your son. The report ought to be good. Be safe guys. And what was wrong with the 1.5-4x32? :?

Lol. Nothing wrong with the smaller scope. He just is sure I will do better with the big one. Heck, he could be right.

As for the Romeo, I think it would cover any shot I'd take. We will see.

I like red dots and would not be afraid at all to put one on a hunting rifle.

I have seasons enough to be trying the red dot later. The pasture we are setting up in is tame enough to drive. I plan to be back for the late season. It is very helpful to be able to drive to a downed deer. Getting too old for dragging.

I've hunted with a red dot sight on our Redhawk 44 Mag for a long, long time .... I've never used one on a rifle and wouldn't be comfortable doing so at ranges over 50 or so yards .... as to getting tooooo old for dragging deer out of the woods, I reached that point many years back
