The hunt! [sort of]
I thought I had posted this earlier, but, guess not. Dennis and myself had a grand time hiking thru the Eastern Sierra's, but, no luck. Nothing with antlers, nothing legal. Crap! Had fun, but , no luck. Just armed campers it seemed. If I can swing it, I'll try and get some pics.

Thanks Randy! These are in the Bridgeport and Bodie area of Ca. We have hunted this area since the early 80's and have always gotten deer. This time, nada. Don't know what the issue was, but, we simply didn't see anything legal to tag.
I certainly appreciate the guys who have posted pictures here for me. One of these days.....

Nice lookin camp site.
Didn't mind a bit Tom, and it sure is a beautiful place.
Sorry you didn't have any luck with the game.
But like I have always heard it sure beat the heck out of working.

Yeah, it is some mighty fine country up there. Pictures never do justice to what it's really like. Camp was good, have a creek maybe, 15 feet from the tent. Coldest it got was 27F, so wasn't too bad really. Beautiful, rugged country, but, do like it a bunch. Elevation at camp is 7,200'. We hunted between that and about 9,500' elevation. Leaves were just starting to turn, as can be seen in some pics.

I feel your pain. I just got back from a whitetail hunt and although I did finally see a legal deer, it was with a young one so I let it pass. Antlerless is open in that area of the BC Kootenay region.Rifletom wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2019 3:22 pmThanks Randy! These are in the Bridgeport and Bodie area of Ca. I saw an absolute cranker buck just east of the 395 on the Bodie road last September. I didn’t get a pic of it, but it was sporting one hell of a chandelier on its head!
I packed my 7-08 on the first day, but then went to the .357 BBSC after that. I wasn’t going to get a shot at anything beyond 75 yards in 90% of the spots we saw.
Some pics of the country we were in:
