my hunting revolver, hunting rifles and hunting shotguns are all big boomers with strong recoil .... when firing at a big game animal, I have no memory of hearing the muzzle blast or feeling the recoil .... I also have no memory of my ears ringing after pulling the trigger .... can't say the same for target shooting

Well.... I didn't have the best deer hunting this year. Shot at a spike, he was broadside at 40 yards and I shot under him! (a clean miss!) It was kind of worth it to see him jump 7 miles into the air but it didn't put venison in the freezer. All those days at the range this year and I muff a 40 yard shot!
But, where I did have success was with porcupines. They have killed three beautiful mature oak trees on my property, but I can never seem to connect with them, until this deer season I was able to shoot two in one day, (both munching on oak trees).
So, I had no problem shooting each porcupine with one shot each at 40 and 75 yards, what was the deal with the little buck? Buck fever I guess..

They look cuddly and soft. You going to make hats of them?

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

I didn't know porcupines could kill mature oak trees .. :? .. that being the case I need to figure out a way to get a few of those critters to the park where we spend our summers .... there are two huge oaks that totally block my clear view of the southern sky that I sure love to have them take care of .. ;) .. is your season over .. :?:

Season is over in my zone, but I can hunt other areas for a few more days... Yeah, I don't understand why they like the oaks. I have aspen, spruce, ash, balsam, tamarack, and birch on my property besides the oak trees that are scattered through, and they don't touch anything but the oaks.
