just got back form a pig hunt and did have some luck. my big boy 357 tipped over a big pig . 50 yards good clean shot. now it is not a monster but you can not eat a big one too tough

I wish we had pigs in Oregon but the few ferals we used to have were eliminated by the State.

Looks like a perfectly placed shot, congrats! It's interesting how wild pigs are managed by different states. In MO, hunting is banned, as the state is attempting to trap them in order to eradicate the population. Their studies show that hunting them scatters the population, making them harder to control and eliminate in the long run.

We have had a 'controversial' pig issue in Oregon for about 40 years.
In the late 70s up through the 80's we were starting to see an uptick in the feral population mostly from ranches that were releasing them in the hopes of increasing the population in the hopes of an eventual 'cash crop' from guiding, private property hunts etc.
In the late 90's a very large ranch not far from me was illegally breeding them and releasing them for the aforementioned - and was eventually shut down.
About 5 years ago the state got serious and eventually eliminated what few remaining pigs we had through a very aggressive program. Most of them had congregated on private land so it was fairly easy to find and eliminate them.
Oregon is not very conducive to wild pig propagation due to extreme variances in the environment such as areas of nearly Sahara type desert to very thickly wooded areas with so much downed timber & underbrush they could not move through.

nicely done .... knowing first hand by having taken black bear, boar and deer with a 357, I have no doubt of its effectiveness .... seeing your hog may well help some who still have questions

Before I retired, there were a couple guys that went quite often down to South Carolina to hunt them. Lots there I guess, although I have not had the pleasure to go yet.

158 gr., or larger.

Thank goodness we don't have any close by, (yet).
I have taken deer with a 357 before.

Yes, I am interested in what you are using for a load also. They looked at the link for the hunting lodge, and it looks very interesting.

I use a 180 grain wide flat nose lead cast bullet for my preferred 357 Magnum load and I'm very interested to see what you used, it really looks like it did the job.
