.
I have no problem with folk dispatching vermin that affect peoples lively hoods even when an out of the way opportunity presents itself.

Even at first light on opening day of deer season.
Well, that’s up to you. There are many different philosophies in life. That’s part of what keeps it interesting.
Guess it comes from my younger days, when my brother and I raised cattle.
You've probably never lost any livestock, to them.
They can be hard on the calves, so they were/are shot on site.

I'm no trophy hunter, and trust me we have a lot of deer.
So I take 'em when I can.

Yeah, I’m fine with that too. I’m just saying that (did you read the article I linked?) if you shoot them, they actually breed MORE than if you don’t. If you get them all, you’re good, if not, they are able to react to outside pressure (you shooting them) by having more puppies per litter. It’s an amazing adaptation. I wish deer etc could do the same thing!

I’ve let the lead fly at them when they were encroaching on my old ranch. Luckily we never lost any stock in the short time we had it, but I was definitely letting them know they weren’t welcome.

I did and I see a similar behavior with the nutria. Create a vacancy and it eventually gets filled from an adjoining area. What I also saw was when I did nothing I was overrun by mobs of nutria. Keeping them in check, I take maybe 5-6 year. When I had the mobs, it took me a week to cull them back taking 5-6 per day. Point is to get ahead of the population curve to keep it in check. I think that likely applicable to coyotes too even if they breed faster under duress.

Great discussion on predator control.

Remember, it's not how many guns you have. It's how many bullets you have.

Red, I did read the article, but it just does my heart good to see one meet an untimely death. Sorry
I agree Cofisher, it has been.

Here's how I like 'em
A pair my neighbor got not far from the house.
The black one was a buddy of mine over near the TN river.
