Elmer scores!

Post by TNman » Fri Nov 23, 2018 9:21 pm

Ok rifle deer season opened last Saturday and despite going on several hunts they were all deerless....not a snort, hide, nor hair...which is a bit unusual but it is hunting after all. After a huge late Thanksgiving meal at my sister’s place and movie afterwards didn’t get to bed til about 12:30 am. The 5:15 alarm rang about 15 minutes later....was windy any I was tired. Woke again at 7:00 and debated about going or not...decided to go and travel light. Took up a stand behind a leafy beech next to a red oak in a little narrow holler sheltered from the wind a bit. Did some internet cruising raising my head often like a squirrel or turkey to check out the surroundings. A twig snapped up on the ridge at about 8:40 and he appeared in a steady walk from l to r at about 35-40 yards...never stopping...as he went through a window between some oak trees...got the red dot on him, and let her go..bam. He scrunched down a bit and started a stumbling run. I heard him crash as he went out of sight over the brow of the ridge. Yeah baby! He had made it about 30 yards on his death run crashing into and gouging a black oak and breaking 3” off the end of his left antler. Beautiful performance from the little Henry woods carbine...fantastic...complete pass through just above the heart where all the great vessels reside. Nice short blood trail...Speer 210g deep curl over Lil’ Gun....Elmer is an awesome powerful woods carbine...kudos to Henry for making deer hunting great again....

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......
