Back to the Ozarks

Post by ESquared » Sat Nov 17, 2018 8:07 am

Headed back to the rural suburbs of Vichy, MO, today. Afternoon hunt looks to be in the 50s and tomorrow AM in the low 30s. Will give it the old college try and report back.

Yikes, forgot the pics from last weekend. Here's some from the frigid days of a week ago...From the top, the stand in the field/hedgerow and the cold dawn treestand on Day 1 deep in the woods. And the DOT highway sign that greets campers at the gate...

"Cool" photos. This weekend should be less cold, as you did your first hunting on the coldest MO day so far of this winter!
Have a grand day. Hoping you'll be able to take a harvest photo soon.

Since we are sharing 'cool' weather hunting pics - here is one of mine from a few years ago!
Not too far from home actually.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Ya I wish. There was 2 of those that walked out of the bushes when we topped this hill and shut of my buddies pickup. I only had a cow elk license and getting a buck license in that area is tough without preference points. These 2 were only like 30 yards tops from us and when we got out of the truck just stood there and looked at us. They then continued on the merry way not startled at all. The very next day while sitting under a tree not far from this spot we had another buck walk right up to us while we were scanning the area for elk.

Brings me lots of memories. Spent three years in Stoutland just west of there back 1985-88. Grew up in Sarcoxie in SW MO. Loved the hunting up there but my Texas bride thought I'd moved her to Alaska or something. She did not like the winter weather there at all.
