Spring has sprung. Get out and shoot your Henry
Henry introduced to his place of work
Henry introduced to his place of work
My Henry was born Aug 2016 and had never been in the wild. It was time to put that right.5 minutes from home is an area of bush that I have shot 150+ deer and pigs over 34 years.
I followed an old logging road past an area of clear fell that is regenerating Once past the clear fell I turned left into the Native bush The 45-70 was now in its natural enviroment as I followed deer trails. Its more open on the ridges. Down in the gully animals 50 yds away are safe. Stopped for a drink before going back unsucessfull this time, no pig sign and less deer sign than my last visit.

looks like tough hunting but with your number of kills, it has to be a great area .... your Henry should be an outstanding performer

During one of your treks through the wild, your Henry will be heard...

Better luck next time! Your bush looks very similar to ours in the forests here of the coast range and western side of the cascade mtns.

Re: Henry introduced to his place of work
Go slow, stop often to look and listen.Shootable animals in this bush will be close, good ears just as important as eyes.
The area holds Red deer,Fallow deer,Sika deer and a neighbour has photos of a Sambar stag on his game camera. I think I found Sambar prints today.
The pigs get chased with dogs often which may be the reason for a lack of sign if pig hunters have been in the area recently. It is public land and as such is open to hunting all year.

Our bigfoot is called Moehau Man with reports from pre European occupation until modern times with stories of them killing humans.perhaps that's the reason no deer or pigs were about today.

Exactly right. Reminded me instantly of the PacNW. Beautiful area(s), both of them.Mags wrote:Better luck next time! Your bush looks very similar to ours in the forests here of the coast range and western side of the cascade mtns.
