Local guys bag big gator

Post by GunnyGene » Wed Sep 12, 2018 11:58 am

Couple local guy's and one 5yo boy bagged a 12'6" gator on a local lake about 15 miles from me last week. We have lots of smaller gators around here, but not many this big. Weighed over 600lbs. Scan of the story:

Interesting reptiles. Alligators and crocodiles are actually their own group of reptiles, distinct from lizards, turtles, snakes and other groups of reptiles. Their group appeared when dinosaurs ruled the earth, but unlike the dinosaurs, they survived the great extinction event that doomed the dinosaurs. In other words, they have been around for a very long time. They're closest living relatives are actually birds. Okay, couldn't help reverting to the old science teacher in me. :)

Gotta love a story about hunting in the south especially when one of them is named Bubba.
And he hunts wild hogs with a knife! I want to drink a beer with this guy.
The little boy just had the night of his life finding a dinosaur.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Quite a few guys in the South hog hunt with a knife. Some with dogs, some not. Lots of videos on youtube about it. I don't know McCandless personally, so couldn't say if he uses dogs or not. Wouldn't surprise me if he did tho. Most of the hogs around here are 125-200 lbs, but you still have to know what you're doing. They aren't like other game, they're more like smart, fast, and strong enemies.
