in NC no application is necessary for deer ....

"The big game hunting license authorizes the hunter to harvest up to six deer. All six deer can be antlerless for all areas of the state. The season limit for antlered deer in the Eastern Deer Season is four. The season limit for antlered deer in the Central, Northwestern, and Western deer seasons is two."

Dennis H-
We are allowed 2 antlered deer per year. Unlimited number of antlerless. I kill on average 1 buck and 3 does a year. All meat is used. No wanton waste here! All we eat is venison, dove, pheasant, duck, goose, squirrel, and various fish. No store bought meat. We also get virtually all of our vegetables from our garden. So several deer per year may seem excessive to some, but it is legal here and ethical as we have a lot of deer in Illinois.

Yep those whitetail can really multiply in a hurry under the right conditions. Illinois corn country is about ideal! Our mule deer have struggled since the invention of Smokey the Bear. Still a huntable herd just not like it was in the 50's and 60's from what the old boys and their pictures say.
