Good News For Virginia Hunters

I just posted this on another gun board and wanted to post it here as well:

I was just talking to a Virginia Game and Inland Fisheries Officer and he just told me something that I've been wanting to see for many years now. They are extending the Hunting Season for 2 extra weeks. We are overrun with Deer and this will be a win-win-win for Virginia. More time for more hunting, more meat for the hunger programs and much safer roadways. Sure glad to finally see it.

Many others should follow suit.
Here in Western NC, they are taking about extending the Black Bear season. Lots of them here and MANY commonly spotted in urban areas.

It would be nice if Virginia would let you use single shot rifles during muzzleloader like some states do....for those that want too.

Unfair advantage over a MUZZLELOADER don't cha think.
Unless your taking a "lee loader" and making your ammo on stand.

Good news CGF, they added a couple weeks on to some of the counties this past season here.
Then main reason was because of the CWD though.

Not really , considering most of the new muzzeloaders sold these days are scoped and shoot as well as a centerfire rifle.
Several states already allow it and they call it a "primitive season" . You can use muzzloader or single shot rifles , I could see allowing unscoped single shot rifles . Might get more people in the woods that want to hunt but don't want to fool with a muzzleloader....Not long ago most states didn't allow crossbows during bow season....and now they do.

How is a single shot primitive?
You pull the beech back pop another round in and right back in the game.
Muzzle loaders, new fangled or real percussion or flintlocks, you have to pour in powder, place the bullet in the end of the barrel, then get ramrod shove down, replace ramrod.
Then put the cap on or fill the flash pan.
No damn way it's even close to the same thing.

Primitive season here in PA is flintlock only. Up until 15? Years ago we weren’t allowed to use percussion muzzle loaders even. We were flintlock round ball ammo

They put those inlines in with the other muzzleloaders out here in Colorado. Dont even agree with it. Theres nothing primitive about an inline at all. They belong in another season in my opinion.
