A late Christmas visitor

Post by daytime dave » Sun May 15, 2016 3:15 pm

On Bladeforums I had seen a posting about a neat little fixed blade. It was a Christmas knife made for Walmart. A white handled 877 made in the USA. It is normally a China made knife with black handles. On Bladeforums, as discussion was taking place about it. The knife buyer from Walmart was participating. He said he asked for it and they made it. It retailed there at 19.99 I believe.

Of course, I saw the thread too late. None left at local Walmarts. A few weeks ago, someone posted he had gotten one on clearance for 9.77. Wow, again, too late.

I had need to go to Walmart. Need, not desire. In the back of the knife display case was a card with this nice little knife in it. I waited patiently for the attendant and got it. Sure enough, after the register was done, it was also 9.77. I was pretty happy.

It's a great little knife that probably won't see the light of day. The plastic molded sheath is just not secure. The knife pops in, but anything the handle touches loosens the knife and it will fall out. The sheath is designed to remove the belt loop and put it on the other side. I might fiddle with it, but don't want to spend the time. It is a cool knife though. I like the white handle.

It's at home with it's many siblings.

By the way, I took these photographs with my new tablet. Let me know what you think of the photos.

That's a really cool story, Dave. Thanks. And your new tablet takes an excellent close-up photo, too.
