You're quite welcome Bob!
I'm trying to find the phone # and contact info for you. I usually keep those things in a safe place,
(Usually hidden from myself)...
If I locate that info I WILL pass it on!
Would appreciate the info, Mark.
TIA
Yeah, I have a few "safe places" myself....but mostly they are too safe!

Cannot find where I wrote down the info but looked it up again:
Customer service # 800-442-2706
Victorinox Swiss Army Inc. ( VSA )
Attn. Service Dept.
7 Victoria Dr.
Monroe, CT 06468
They ask that you send $5.00 processing fee.
Hope that helps...
Go figure....found my original info right after I looked it up again.

Appreciate the info, Mark. I will add that to my "to do" list for this next week. Might also look at my other SAKs, just in case any of them need some tlc. It will be nice if I can get some new parts and sheen back on "Old Red."

our youngest son and his son backpack and camp .... I may buy them one and ask them to test it
Amazon delivered one today .... first reaction is, its a solidly built tool .... in looking at it, I believe the weak point is where the 2 brads connect the axe to the handle .... when using the axe I believe it would be best to use a wooden limb as a hammer as shown in the videos listed in other post .... the soft rubber edge guard is pretty flimsy, doubt it will last long .... the blades in the handle are the strongest I've seen in a multi tool .... my first impression is it should work well within the limits of what it is designed to do

I actually went for it today, Mark. Couldn't get anyone to talk with, because their automated phone system kept me going in circles....just about as dizzying as an attack on an encircled wagon train!!
But I found the "SAK Product Support Form" online and submitted my request. They emailed me with a queue number and said they'll contact me.
I'll post again with whatever results I find with this company. Sure keeping busy with all kinds of service requests lately!
Bob

from the get-go I wasn't happy with the location of the hatchet's cutting edge when the tool is in its sheath .... the easily exposed cutting edge could easily cut someone .... after looking at the Sheffield camp tool and its sheath for a while, I came up with the mod shown below .... a strip was cut from an old Leatherman case and sewn into sheath so as to cover the axe edge ....
