This is just an enjoyable look-see for knife lovers.
After I got my Siberian Forge knife in September 2018 http://henryrifleforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=5145 , I decided to stay on the mailing list sent by this Canadian forger. I viewed a knife he recently created, and was surprised (more like blown away!) with how different from the traditional in-the-woods knife I have --- in construction and use.
Like mine, this knife is also a traditional Siberian hand-forged Evenki. A brief look at my knife first. Mine would be used for all we do with hunting and outdoor/woods camping, wilderness survival, even whittling. Here is one September 2018 photo of my knife.
The huge difference in this latest knife he forged is that it is a fighting knife. The forger calls it "Spirit of the Woods."
The highly noticeable difference.
My knife has a 3" blade with a 5" handle.
This fighting knife has an 8" blade made of high carbon steel, with an 11" inch handle. OAL = 19 inches!
Just for fun, I plan to do some further reading/research, and dig into the history of this fighting knife. I think it is a very sharp-looking blade, and like that it originates out of another time and country!

PT, I'm sure you are aware of it, just thought I'd ask anyway; do you watch " Forged In Fire " ?

I've heard of it, but don't watch it. Where is it available for viewing? There are any number of individual videos I've watched of Siberian knife and axe forging, mainly found when I was researching my Yakut knife and axe. I would bet "Forged In Fire" might possible run those as well.markiver54 wrote:PT, I'm sure you are aware of it, just thought I'd ask anyway; do you watch " Forged In Fire " ?

It is a knife making competition. I think they have probably covered every kind of knife and sword you can think of.
Pretty fun show!

Since it was mentioned here, Miss T and I watched season one on Prime Video. Pretty Cool. They have a lot of clips and a couple full episodes on youtube as well.
