H Roselli UHC Wootz

Post by TNman » Tue Sep 04, 2018 2:41 pm

The quality high carbon blades are nicer than stainless imo. Found this on eBay as ‘used’ at a good price and it is new in my view. Roselli makes the ultra high carbon blades(UHC) as a modern approximation of the Wootz steel of historic fame. The legendary blades of India, Damascus, and other cutlery centers were made of Wootz steel; it is a special process and many of the originals were made from a unique ore deposit. There is a lot of information on Wootz steel on the net for anyone with an interest. The figured birch handle is fantastic and the blade is scary sharp...you guys are a bad influence......

Update: After more research this Roselli is NOT a Wootz steel blade. The Wootz steel blades were released in 2016 and are so marked. Their blades have a more slick manufactured look also. This is an older vintage Roselli with a high carbon forged blade but it very nice Wootz or not. Didn’t want to mislead y’all.....

Congrats on your "new-used" blade, TNman.
I've not heard of Roselli brand knives before, made of UHC steel. Just like rifles, so many manufacturers to choose from.

But both the blade and the birch handle are really sharp-looking. You know, in looking at your photo of the knife encased in the sheath, the shape of the handle looks almost identical to the Yakut knife and sheath I should get next week. Sure seems like the rounded shape will fill up the palm of the hand quite nicely. Thanks for the cool photos.

Oh, yes. You commented that "us guys are a bad influence...…"
How can that be?!? We're members of a rifle Forum!

Handle that scary sharp blade with great care and caution. ;)

I love that... great find. Beautiful. Don't know if the blade or the scales are more attractive.
