Re: Sharpening day
At least they have quit putting those horrible grinders on the top of can openers.
I tend to think of the pull through sharpeners as equivalent to a steel. They are great for refreshing an edge in between sharpenings, but are no substitute for a real sharpening.
Full disclosure, I am something of a sharpening snob, however knives are not my strong suit. I can put a mean edge on a chisel or plane iron, though. And knives don't require the same level of sharp.

I was in WalMart very early this morning. They had a display of these for 19.99. I remembered your thread and said what the heck.
It really works great. I don't know how and I haven't bothered to sit down and waste time to figure out why. It works pretty good. It will definitely go up to camp when we go next. It will sharpen all the kitchen knives that the others dull.
Thanks for the reference Mr. Bar. I would have never gotten near it otherwise.

No, not yet. Perhaps after work today, since you have requested it.

Re: Sharpening day
that would be appreciated .... is it does a good job on serrated blades, that alone would motivate me to spend $20 and buy one

Re: Sharpening day
Well, as far as I can tell, it did a good job on my food service bread slicer serrated blade. Just to be sure, after reading your last post, I found a clearly dull, serrated food service utility knife. About a six or so inch curved blade. Five pulls through and you could feel it was noticeably sharp. Well worth my $20.00. It will go to camp, where the knives seem to dull just by sitting there. I know they really get a lot of dulling help from all who use them.
Pull the trigger on this one Mr. Bar, I'm glad I did.

Re: Sharpening day
good to hear it works ..... done and did .... Amazon should have one here on Monday .... I sincerely doubt any of my good knives will ever pass through it but we have plenty of working blades that will see it from time to timedaytime dave wrote:Pull the trigger on this one Mr. Bar, I'm glad I did.
