I was searing some vinyl tile and this happened. What really makes it bad is the the tile is like butter and I was barely using any pressure. Winchester should be ashamed at producing a knife this cheap. I’ve gotten better prizes in Cracker Jacks.
Don’t they realize I now view their current firearms the same as this knife?

When I need a real knife I use this lower case 1013 kabar. These were made between 1966 and 1982. I think 82 was the year they went to upper case letters.

Very poor job of making good steel. The only China made knife I have ever had that hold up to hard use is the Rough Rider knives. They have served me well so far and hold an edge really well. Most of these were Christmas and birthday gifts to me. Second would be the Shrade brand that are now China built. I do my best to buy around China junk if at all possible. Not easy now to do that. Sometimes boxes say made in USA but the contents says made in China.

Look careful as it may not really say Made in USA. What it might say is ‘Wichita, Kansas’. That means the importer is based in Wichita. If the object does not list the country of manufacture that means it was made in China and the decal which was designed to fall off fell off.bandit1250 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 2:24 pmVery poor job of making good steel. Very seldom do American manufacturers put a temporary sticker on their goods.
This sticker is from a Craftsman toolbox and is NOT going to fall off. A Kobalt toolbox will either has a sticker that will either fall off or will be hidden. Sometimes the country of manufacturing will be only on the packaging which is designed to be thrown away. But that is not always correct. This Marble sight was made in Gladstone USA.

Re: Cheap Winchester Knife
Hard to believe American companies would stoop that low. Winchester used to be a name that stood for quality and workmanship.
I only own 1 Winchester knife and it is American made. After seeing your post, I would never buy a Winchester knife.

Re: Cheap Winchester Knife
I have seen the Winchester bowie knife in the hardware store...wooden handled one. It looks ok but I think it's like under $30 or something, so don't think I'd bet my life on it.
