Bullet traps for home range

Post by Sir Henry » Tue Jul 18, 2017 10:26 am

I received the bullet traps for my new backyard range. I bought five new ones so have six in total. I hiked yesterday (watch for a hike report) and will hike again on Thursday but I'll have two days to work on the range.

looking forward to pictures and info on the traps .... I'd like to come up with one that is heavy duty enough to handle the calibers we shoot

I use those plastic buckets cat litter comes in and stuff them full of that rubber mulch they sell at Home Depot.
Stops pellets from both my .25 and .22 PCP and it's very quiet.
I duct tape a piece of cardboard on it and use adhesive targets on the cardboard.

Thanks for the tip. We have a Home Depot in our town. I might have to see about getting some of that rubber mulch. Could be very useful for our range, too.

I have a medium moving box (16"?) stuffed with a couple old comforters that I tape paper targets on. A couple times a year after the four sides are absolutely shredded I dump the lead out and replace the $2 box. Both the .22 and .177 only penetrate about an inch. It is used both inside the garage and outside in the yard. The steel tongue on the funnel shaped pellet trap I bought was not thick enough to last more than a couple days.
