Anyone use this Co2 adapter?

Post by fortyshooter » Tue Feb 02, 2021 11:14 am

Want to get my Walther Co2 Lever Rifle shooting again and it takes the big 88g cartridge. There is this Umarex adapter that uses 2 12g cartridges which is most needed when planning to shoot less than 100 rounds.
Seems to be on back order right now.

No, but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work. Check around for availability. There are likely other such adapters, since people have been shooting CO2 for many decades, now.

That one has been out for a few years and is the one that will fit inside the stock where the 88 g cartridge sits. Has good reviews for sealing well.
A couple places will send me a notice when back in stock and have plenty of time till warm weather gets here.

Can CO2 cylinders be removed if not in use? I’m ordering the Crosman 2300S and need to order the correct ones for occasional use and for shooting a lot at one time.

No, once they are in the gun and pierced, you have to leave them in the gun. In some guns, they will slowly leak when stored, but in other guns they'll continue to hold pressure. My 2300S is such a gun.You can use any standard 12g cartridge. Doesn't have to be Crosman, but the Crosmans are the most common and they're cheap and available.

I do put a single drop of Crosman Pellgun oil on the tip of the cartridge when insering into the gun. This helps to seal the gun. The other thing to watch is not to screw down the cap too tight after inserting the cartridge. Just light finger tight and no more. Otherwise, you can have a devil of a time getting it back off.

Thanks. I ordered the oil. The person that I talked to and took the order said I was buying the right stuff. I ordered the 40 pack of cylinders, some wad cutters, and some hunting pellets.

They really seemed to know their stuff and answered all my questions and more.

Everything will ship on Thursday.

Sounds good.

One more thing. After inserting the cartridge, you'll have to cycle and fire then a couple of times to get the CO2 into they system and up and running.

I generally shoot CO2 outdoors when temps get into the 60s, but anytime indoors, of course. With the riflescope on the 2300S it's almost like cheating indoors at 10 meters.:)
