Where have all the Primers gone ? ? ?
Components are hard to find. Powder has opened up some, but Primers do not exist.
I have scoured the web for two days now, every possible gun shop on the Internet. Looking for Small Pistol, Small Pistol magnum and Large Pistol, Winchester, CCI or Remington.
I found ONE shop with Winchester Large Pistol primers . . . . . IN THE NETHERLANDS ! Only $90.00 per brick.
If anyone has a connection inside these United States, please feel free to let me know ! ! !

There are lots available on Gunbroker. LOL. These are completed auctions.

This is like factory ammo, Cheaper Than Dirt (remember those crooks?) wants $60 for a 50 round box of 9mm range ammo and $1000 for a 500 round bulk case.
I have begun trading my surplus components, no way will I be buying at scalper prices.... I am lucky because there is terrific local firearms classifieds forum that has a busy reloading section. Most of the members there are decent folks, though there are a few who try to take advantage. For those of you with no options except the LGS or online, I feel for your pain. I don’t see things improving at all in the next six months....

When I started my shooting hobby in 2012, there was a similar shortage caused by panic buying after Sandy Hook, though I didn't know that when I bought my first gun, a Henry H001. I discovered it when I couldn't find any 22 ammo for my new Henry anywhere. As a result, whenever I saw it for sale, I bought it. I now have about 10K rounds of 22s and enough powder, primers, and bullets to keep my Henry H006 in .357 ammo for a very long time.runnin n gunnin wrote: ↑Fri Sep 18, 2020 3:51 pmWhy does the Netherlands have primers and the US of A does not ? ? ?
The US very likely has more primers, powder, bullets, and factory ammunition than any other country on earth, including the Netherlands; maybe even more than all of the other countries combined. It's just been stockpiled in the basements and garages of our friends and neighbors along side cases of toilet paper.

I've heard that the sudden increase in demand for factory ammo is a major contributor to the primer shortage .... the large manufactures are buying them about as fast as they can be produced and will continue to do so until stocks of factory ammo can be rebuilt ....

Re: Where have all the Primers gone ? ? ?
Just about every gun has been sold to many new owners and the ammo got scooped up to feed it all.
So everybody producing ammo needs primers and then the folks that reload are looking for primers, brass and bullets. A HUGE drain on available
resources. Now add in the unknown of the Presidential Election coming up and the fear of civil unrest to follow....every gun owner was/is stocking up.
After the election things may calm down after a while.....hopefully and the ammo supplies may come back sooner. Yep it's putting a dent in just going out to plink on the range not knowing when things turn around.
