Setting up the Magneto Speed chrono on revolver.....
Got my unit in today and set it up on my Ruger Bisley BH 45 Colt/ 45 ACP. Will be comparing .45 ACP loads using Standard & Magnum primers.
To make setup easier I machined up 2 aluminum bushings measuring about .441 to just slide into barrel. These have a .250 dia. hole for a slip fit 1/4 inch aluminum rod. Then another pair of bushings that are bullet diameter at .452 which slide on end of rod over the speed trap bar.
Set gap at 1/8 to 3/8ths inch between bushing O.D. and bar keeping bar within 1/16 inch of being straight. I have a 5/32 inch gap which should be fine using the thicker mounting pad.
I did remove the case ejector rod housing to let the strap have a better grip on barrel.
So will get down to the range in a few days after I load up some test rounds and see how it works.
Will be adjusting my 230 gr. 45 ACP load using 6.0 Unique down to 5.5 gr. for first test using the CCI 350 Large Pistol Mag primers and compare to the standard primer load of 6.0 Unique.
Right now all I have is the Mag primers for .45 ACP and .357 Magnum loads.

Just remember to take that thing out before you shoot.....
“ Ellis was wounded “while leading the regiment in a daring charge on the enemy’s works. He was hit with one of the iron ramrods, used by the infantry in those days, which some excited Confederate had neglected to remove from his rifle barrel before firing. This rammer passed through the major’s left arm and bruised his chest severely.”

Dang forty, you ain't messing around! Looks good.
Side note: Man, I'm glad you guys and gals can get to a place to shoot. My mountain range is closed due to fires all around it.
Deserts are just too hot to even think about going there. My waiting game continues my friends. Meanwhile, my .45 Colt loads may be approaching RR's!! Unbelievable!

Hope they can get those fires under control soon Tom. We have a few rainy days moving in...some system moving in from the coast again so might be the weekend before I can try it out. We have to payback for that beautiful weekend we just had.

impressive work indeed, way beyond my ability .... you've proven to me that for my use, I need to stick to firing between the wires of our Caldwell Ballistic Precision Chronograph ....

Nice work but looks way to involved for me. I'll just shoot between the screens and call it good.

Now you don't have to set it up the way I did but having a machinist background it was easier for me just to make up a setup gauge.
At least the sky and sun conditions will be out of the picture and I can set a target out to whatever distance and not worry about taking out my optic type chrono.
