300 Win mag, magnum primer or not ?

Post by BruniX » Sat Sep 05, 2020 1:36 pm

Hello to all,

to reload lapua scenar or Sierra 180 grain bullet,300 Win MAg,
Lyman tables rather indicate a large rifle type primer like WLR winchester, while the Vithavuori reloading table (powder that I will use, easy to find here...) indicate large rifle magnum primer type.
However, the Vithavuori tables relate to the lapua scenar bullet, they do not mention Sierra bullet.

What do you think, is there an interest to use magnum primer, or any risk ?

I already have CCI # 200 large rifle primer.
If I can use them without buying magnum type primer, I like it just as much ... :D

see you soon ...

Nosler recommends Magnum primers for the 300 Winchester Magnum .... that is what I use for my 300 Weatherby loads ....
