I. Bought some 240 grain plated flat nose .429" bullets for my new 44 Henry Big Boy

The load data from the bullet manufacture listed Titegroup , among others, as a powder I could choose. 9 to 10 grains with Mag primers.

I bought it. Now I'm reading it is good for pistols but may be too fast for the longer rifle barrel. I could go get some H110 but I have this so I'd like to use it

Also Hodgdon site say 4.7 grain to 10 grain for this powder.

It will be fine.
Keep your loads toward the medium/high end with it and they'll shoot fine.
I'd probably start with 7 grains.

Thanks, that's what I thought. I saw Titegroup appear on a few load data sheets for my bullets so it can be all bad

You could always go out and get a sweet 44 revolver and use the powder for that...that would be fun.

While a fast powder TIteGroup has s pretty good 'range' of charge weight for some loads and .44 mag is one of them given the 4.7 to 10 grains.

As an example I have shot .38 Specials loaded with 3.5 grains of Bullseye out of my BBB .357 and while potentially too light of a load for a rifle all bullets left the barrel ok. The bullets were lead however and I would have never shot them if they were jacketed.

I recently switched my .45 ACP loads from Unique to TiteGroup and have increased accuracy with a bit lighter recoil.

Been thinking about Titegroup for my 41 carbine too.... thanks for asking this question that has been in my mind for a while now.

I use Titegroup for 44specials and 44mag. Good accuracy. No problems at all.

From the responses, and although I have never used it, it appears that Titegroup is fine for your Big Boy .44 Mag. However, as you get comfortable with your rifle and your reloads, you might want to add a lb. of Accurate #9 to your powder inventory. In the late 1990's, I began using AA #9 when reloading both hunting and plinking loads for my S&W Model 29 .44 Mag which has a 6.5" barrel. In those days I loaded 20 grs. of #9 with a 240 gr Hornady XTP bullet, and consistently had hunting grade accuracy out to 50 yards. When I bought my BBB in 2014 I used that same load for the rifle. It shot 3"-4" groups at 100 yds. but the case was hard to extract from the rifle's chamber. I backed off to 17 grs of AA #9, and that solved the extraction problem. With the lighter charge, I re-sighted in the rifle to 75 yds. and maintained the same size groups.

I think I read in the new Henry catalogue, the ROT for the 44mag is now 1-20, not 1-38, I could be wrong. This should improve the over all accuracy.
