Re: Favorite .41 loads?
Here is some Accurate 4100 and/or Ramshot Enforcer load data for your viewing pleasure... this powder will do anything H110 or W296 will do, and do it with less muzzle flash...but the bang is still there, like any slow powder, it does have some boom to it.
11FS works too, with even less flash...FS stands for flash suppressed, I suspect it is the same powder with more flash suppressants in it.

Re: Favorite .41 loads?
Something that just now occurred to me....
With a 170 grain bullet and a stiff dose of 4100 in a 16.5 - 20 inch barrel, the 41 becomes a 30-30.
2,100 fps is easily doable....bet that would be a real deer grenade with a 170 Sierra bullet behind the shoulder.

Re: Favorite .41 loads?
The 41 deserves more attention than it gets for sure.... always has.
Its a very well balanced round...not too big, not too small, but just right for any medium game and even most big game with proper bullet selection.
And contrary to popular opinion there are plenty of bullet weights and types available....170, 210, 250, and 265 grain bullets will cover anything in North America.
That said....I wish Hornady would make a 240 grain XTP for the 41. If they did, that single bullet would cover everything from deer to all but the largest and meanest bears.

They used to make a 240gr .41mag platinum. But has been discontinued.

Re: Favorite .41 loads?
I've had very good luck with velocity and accuracy out of my Ruger SBHH, 7 1/2 brl. and Ulta-dot. Using 11.7 gr. Hodgdon HS-6. Recoil of a 357 mag. 1" groupings at 28yd. of bags, as per manual - 1300 fps. with 210gr. Deep Curl bullets. IMO, it's an ideal 50 yd. deer load.
