Minor Milestone?

Post by ESquared » Mon Apr 22, 2019 12:00 pm

Was processing my last round of 357 brass this morning and used up my last 100-round sleeve out of my first 1,000 round brick!

Haven't shot it all (obviously) or even loaded it all (remember, I have SOoo many bullet options!), but that first 1,000 primers went more quickly that I ever thought they would!

Ha! You're going in the right direction. Just think of all the ammo you'll have the next time you hit the range! I'm loading up some .45 Colt. Going to try a bit of BE-86 powder and see how that works.

Where'd you come by a "bit of BE-86"? I'd love to try different powders, but a pound at a time isn't exactly an "experimental" amount to start with!

I bought a pound at the LGS to try in the .357 Works well in that. Sooo, I figured it might work in the .45 Colt. Probably start at 7.5 gr/250gr LRNFP. I use it in .357 and .45 acp. Any luck with the shotguns?

Still mulling and researching. TOO many choices. Today, I've swung back to O/Us. Don't ask me why. Well, maybe easier to break down/clean than S/As, a bit more weight in O/U might make recoil a wash vs. S/As, chasing casings spewed out by S/As sounds like a pain, I dunno.

Am mulling an SKB 590 (used) that a private party in Houston is trying to sell so he can move up in the S/C world. It's the Turkish (not Japanese) iteration of SKB, it has 30" barrels, about 1,200 rounds through it (he says), clays only, no hunting, was sold to him by a guy who won it in a raffle and already had a bunch of higher-end O/Us in his safe. He's sent me extra pics (he's not a gun salesman, it seems to me), told me the back-story. He has added a couple of extended chokes to the package. Seems okay, but I'm just frozen at the moment....
