Empty round...

Post by BruniX » Wed Apr 10, 2019 3:51 pm

This must happen at least once ...
a round without powder!
with lead bullet, kinetic hammer do not work well.

the best solution was to order the RCBS bullet puller tool.
Quality rcbs, very easy to use, works perfectly.

A collet is needed per caliber. a little expensive, but very effective.

mounted with hornady lock n load ....

I am developing the habit of checking every case after the powder drop. Only takes a second and there is no chance of that happening. I am very diligent with that step.

we've used an RCBS Bullet Puller since the mid '60's .... completely agree that when you need it, its a very handy piece of equipment .... should you ever have a round without powder get past you and into your rifle, when you pull the trigger you will instantly know something is different .... when you eject the shell the primer may or may not have pushed the bullet out of the casing .... if it did, its probably lodged in your rifle's barrel .... under no circumstances should you chamber another round until you have triple checked and know the barrel is clear

A pair of locking pliers works just as well.

I always thought this was one of the best ideas for multiple calibers and simplicity.

That does look practical.
I've broken a several collets for my Hornady bullet puller.
Usually the pulled bullets were damaged some way.

Remember, it's not how many guns you have. It's how many bullets you have.

I've never had my kinetic fail to pull a bullet. Some require a couple whacks. Pounding it on the bench will not work. I must use the concrete floor, but it works. I would be looking for something more efficient, if I had to pull more than the occasional bullet.
