45-70 question for for the forum.
Will I blow up my 1895CB or hurt it in any way if I load a Trapdoor pressure cartridge using a Barnes TSX 300g fnhp loaded backwards like a wadcutter?
I just can't sustain shooting the Barnes loaded to pressures for it to perform as designed.
Backwards gives it a .458 inch meplate. A hole that size through anything ought to do the job.
Looking for options.

Re: 45-70govt question
Trapdoor 45-70 pressures are the lowest published in reloading data. The 1895CB should have a strong enough action to easily handle Trapdoor pressures.

Lead free only for hunting. I shoot lead otherwise.
I have any varmint type hunting covered with 17HMR, 17WSM, and .223 Remington.
Nosler lead free Etips got 30-30 covered.
Just wondering about Barnes?

Re: 45-70govt question
The Barnes is claimed to expand at velocities as low as 1150fps.
Just back your loads off to a level you are comfortable at and load it normally.
