Alliant Powders @ Midsouth

Post by ESquared » Mon Jan 14, 2019 10:28 am

Free Hazmat on Alliant Powder orders of $125+ at MidSouth Shooters Supply. Pretty extensive selection of 8lb-ers and even quite a few 4 lb, if you wanted to pick and choose.

I'm so new to all this, I'm hesitant to commit to 8 lbs of anything, but I might go cafeteria-style. All I'm working with so far is Unique and H110.

With my reloading focused on 357, maybe 45 LC and some 30-30 plinker loads, 8 lbs or Unique might be just the ticket!

Evan, do you load for .38 spl? Unique would be excellent for .38 spl, .357, and .45 Colt. Not sure about 30-30 tho.
Already loaded up some 200gr rnfp and 250gr rnfp and Unique for my .45 Colt.

Got their email this morning. Thinking about ordering some primers along with the powder as long there's free hazmat.

No, Tom, just 357 through the BBS, and MrEd has given me some good guidance on Unique for 30-30. What brand boolits are you using for your 45LC?

I too would not normally commit to any large quantity of one powder but due to previous 'events' the shelves in my local stores were nearly bare but one day an 8 lb. jug of Unique came in to one of them and I scored it - as well as laying in a heavy supply of other components for the potential of shortages continuing.
Well that all came to pass but no matter as most of what I am shooting regularly all load well with Unique so I'm pretty well fixed with powder for a while.

Not sure about 30-30 tho.
Unique has had quite a 'history' for being used to load reduced rounds not only in 30-30 but other cartridges as well.
I have previously mentioned using 12 grains of Unique with the Speer 100 grain Plinker bullets in 30-30 with excellent results. Low report and recoil but still clocking at about 1700 FPS at the muzzle and the accuracy is excellent.

I'm using Missouri bullets; 250gr LRNFP, .452", Brinell hardness 12.
Mistered, that looks to be a good load with the Unique/100gr bullets in the 30-30. Excellent plinker load.
