My new loading room

Post by bandit1250 » Sun Oct 21, 2018 6:42 pm

I hope folks don't mind me posting this on here. I now have my room just about the way I have wanted to get it to after the car went through the wall. I would like to show some pictures and if any one has any ideas they would like to offer I will appreciate your ideas. First is a front view of my loading area. I have my RCBS press mounted to an oak board with bolts up through and counter sunk to not hit my counter top. Then I C-clamp it to my butcher block counter top. I have a 3" wide piece of aluminum under neath the full length of the opening in the counter with small screws holding it on so the C-clamp can't indent the under neath and work loose. Been working fine and no issues. I can now remove the press and board just by taking off the C-clamps and have no holes in my new counter. Made the top 7' long as 8' interfered with the door way. 1 3/4" Baltic birch 25" wide.
Image Next will be a side view. Everything I use for loading is mounted to remove easy and no holes drilled in the top.
Image
Now the other side counter and base cabinets. 12" counter top same butcher block as the other bench. Joined a 8' and a 4' together to make the 12'. I have the vise mounted to a piece of oak and C-clamped to the counter using the same method as the loader. I have already done some serious beating on stuff being held with the vise and the clamps and it has held. Another easy to detach if need be.
Image
This is the extended portion of the bench. This 12' counter top is where I work on my rifles and do the barrel cleaning with my Tipton gun cradle. Also do my checkering on this counter with the vise holding my checkering cradle.
Image
The next is the other end of my room that don't see a lot of use. Sit there when somebody stops just to chat a while(about guns of course)Wife sits there and talks to friends when they come in and she comes down to my room to visit with them. My Henry gun case in the corner tractortad (Hope I got that right it has been a while) kindly donated to me along with other Henry gift items. What a great guy! Many thanks to him for that.

Fantastic set-up, I'd say! A new definition of Man Cave, for sure. Envy is a deadly sin, but I have it right now!

Thanks for sharing.

As tough as it was when your house got clobbered and you "lost" your reloading/firearms room, so glad you didn't throw in the towel and you "found" it again. It all looks great, Bandit! Congrats on a recovery job more than well done. :D

Most of you probably still remember this. I know I remember it like it was yesterday.

This was a very sad day but could have been worse if some body would have got killed. I was standing at that very spot 1 minute before he hit the house. Luckily he wasn't killed either. My Henry sign survived it to. ;) :D

Im afraid some internal rocket fuel would have been burned that day if that was at my house. Looks good Bandit. Im sure you are a happy reloader now that its all mended.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......
