45 colt is one of those calibers that if you reload it doesnt take long to pay for the loading equipment. Plus theres a bunch of us reloaders on here Im sure that would be more than happy to help you with anything you might need. Cowboy inventory; another 14 boxes of Sellier & Bellot on the way next week that I got cheap. That should fill any gaps in the ammo stock...

Wow...glad you didn't let that fellow rob you of your brass.
Some of my first hand loads were 45C put together on my Mother's kitchen table with a Lee Loader that I purchased for $10 in 1974 or '75.
Get yourself a pound of Unique, a couple hundred Large Pistol primers, some 250gr Speer Swaged semi-wadcutters and a Lee Loader. You can be putting together your first loads in no time.
I did that when I was 16...and 44 years later, still doing it!
