A factory ammo question

Post by RanchRoper » Tue Mar 13, 2018 8:33 pm

Anyone using or used Fiocchi ammunition? I see some 45 Colt on sale in Canada. 250 gr LRNFP. Reviews look ok on some gun shop sites.

I know some highly competent hand loaders who give it a poor recommendation but then, they feel that way about most factory ammo .. :? .. having seen some in use, for punching paper, I wouldn't hesitate to give it a try

Have tried some of the cowboy Fiocchi 45 Colt and 44 mag and the stuff worked fine as far as that kind of load goes. Cowboy loads are not about accuracy, of course, but they were fun to shoot with a bit of smoke for that cowboy effect. Worth giving a box a try, at least.

RR, I have shot Fiocchi .357 magnum and .38 special ammo in both the Henry BBB I once had, and am now using the remaining Fiocchi ammo in my revolvers. I have about 500 rounds to use in different grains, bullet types:
~~ 130gr & 158gr FMJs
~~ 158gr JHPs
~~ 158gr XTPs-HP

But the best Fiocchi I've shot is the 142gr FMJTC. I used it to sight in my Henry .357, and a lot for target practice. It is a quite accurate mid-weight grain bullet. I think the TC helps it to run flatter. I like it a lot. And the Henry BBB really liked this .357 magnum ammo, too.

I agree with NCG. It is "Worth giving a box a try, at least." You just might find it to be okay.

Happy shooting!
