125 JHP loads

Post by Mistered » Fri Feb 23, 2018 3:50 pm

All this talk about loads lately has prompted me to try 8 grains of Unique with 125 gr JHP bullets. This will be 1.5 lower than the max according to Alliant but we’ll see how they work as a ‘medium’ load.

I load a lot of Hodgdon Universal, and I've heard it's similar to Unique. 7.5 grains gives me close to 1500 fps from my 16.5 inch barrel. XTPs really do a number on water jugs at that velocity.

Unique .357 loading data... I've used 9 grains under ZERO 125 JHPs with good success in both my 5.5" SA revolver and my Henry BBB.

Probably going to shift to 125 gr PFP bullets so I'll stick with 8 grains. Mostly I just want to see how 125s shoot out of my BBB.
