If you get above the 1.590 overall saami length in mine it wont cycle. I had a guy from Oregon send me some of his 260 grain bullets to try and they would not cycle as the crimp groove made the oal to long.
Al, I just made a dummy round with one of those 280's, it was 1.704 and it still cycled right through smooth as butter.
Don't know if it makes a difference, and wouldn't think it would.
Mine is one of the first 250 made.

Could possibly be the bullet ogive itself. But if it was me from my experience I wouldnt dive into a bunch of bullets or a mold until I knew for sure it would work. Also Im not one to push the envelope with bigger bullets than the norm for a given caliber. That being said I have nothing against it at all. But for me If I need more lead I just grab a bigger gun. Its been a while since I messed with my 41 but I will check it out. But if I remember right I had cycling issues. I will also check my serial number.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

I'm not absolutely sure I'll try any cast bullets... but the allure is there to check them out.

I'm sure I won't try anything over 265 grains... but 240-250 seems most likely.

If Hornady made a 240 XTP in 41 I'd be all over it... the 210 is a great bullet but it would be greater with a sectional density of at least .200... also the Cutting Edge Bullets 220 grain HG solid, if they weren't $1 each.

I'm just running the numbers at this point, not buying anything.

Thanks for the discussion guys.

Al, I understand, and you could be right about the ogive.
I was mearly trying to see how long I could get them and still have them cycle.
If you like I could send you some of these 270's that I cast, they are a little shorter.

Just in case anybody is wondering...

Underwood informed me their 265 grain 41 Mag load has an overall length of 1.695".

Whether that will feed through the BBS remains to be seen...

Just went down and checked it Randy. Mine is number 26. I do have some Missouri Cast bullets that are 1.625 and they run right thru it. Im thinking now but its been a year or so ago it was longer than that. Im not sure I guess with mine how long one could be before it wouldnt run.

Man you got one of the early ones.
Mine is 241, which I thought was pretty cool since it was my second 41. :D
Well like I posted earlier, I made up that dummy round of 1.70 and it cycled right through without a hi-cup.

I totally agree but when they first came out, Henry said they weren't going make one.
Otherwise I "may" have waited.
But I'm tickled with mine and have no complaints.
Hope to bag a deer with it this upcoming season.

I hoping they produce a 35 in a case colored with an octagon barrel.
If so that'll be my next Henry.

I think I'm gonna order a box and see...I can use them in the Blackhawk if they won't feed through the Henry.

Cheapest way I can see to find out if they'll work.
