Brain-picking time, if you don't mind: What powder/load(s) and primers seem to work best w/ the Silvertips? Won't get to this for a while, and haven't bought even one ounce rifle powder. Is it possible to find one that will work for both 30-30 and .308Win?

per Nosler's latest manual .... Starline brass, 35 grs of Winchester W748 ignited by CCI Large Rifle primers .... I haven't found that the brand of brass or primer makes any difference .... note the use of Large Rifle Primers, not magnum ones

no, I haven't .... one of our sons has used some Reloader powder, unsure which number .... I've never heard him say much about it .... my wife says that in many areas I'm set in my ways .. .. I prefer to think of it as being old school .. ;) .. when I started reloading back in the mid 60's, the first powder I tried was W748 pushing 150 gr Winchester Silvertips .... our Model 94 really liked them so, until they were no longer on the market, I used nothing else .... by then I'd moved on to using a 308 .... a while back I learned that Winchester and Nosler had combined in producing the Ballistic Silvertip .... I went right back to using 35 gr of W748 .... they turned out to be perform even better so that's what I'm using

Na I think alot of us who reload are the same way once you find one that works why fix it if it works. Im the same way with powder. I think I did some changing around here a few years ago when we had to play with primer shortages and then the powder shortage game. For a while we all had a hard time find certain powders. During that time I bought different powders so I could keep shooting and I actually found some that work very well.

long ago I figured out that sometimes it pays to be a bit paranoid ... as such, I've long been one who stocks up (my wife prefers the term hoards :? ) on loading components .... while we did cut back a little, we actually made it through the (shortage) without much difficulty .... our stock pile did take a definite hit, from which it is still recovering ....
